Lowell Alumni Association Welcomes New Executive Director
The Lowell Alumni Association (LAA) is pleased to welcome its new Executive Director (ED), Cathy Mostasisa Jordan, only the third ED in the organization’s modern history. Effective immediately, Cathy will take over from the LAA’s longtime ED Terry Abad, who is retiring after 33 years of exemplary service to the Lowell Alumni Association. Terry spent 13 years as a Director on the LAA Board before joining the LAA staff as Director of Alumni Relations & Development in 2005, then succeeded Paul Lucey as Executive Director in 2009.
Cathy hails from Lowell’s Class of 1988. While at Lowell, she was active in the Fil-Am Club, JROTC, and the Girls Drill Team. After graduating from Lowell, Cathy went on to earn a degree in Speech & Communications Studies at San Francisco State University.
Over two decades, Cathy built a distinguished career developing and leading programs that strengthened stakeholder engagement and drove measurable business impact. Under Cathy’s leadership, these initiatives achieved significant transformation and earned multiple industry honors, including SiriusDecisions’ (now part of Forrester) Customer Engagement Program of the Year, and Upland RO Innovation’s Most Improved Program. Cathy’s commitment to collaboration, innovation, and purpose has also been recognized by internal company awards such as Act as One Team, Do Good, and Aspire and Innovate.
Outside of work, Cathy has been deeply committed to public service and community leadership as a Belmont resident. She was first elected to the Belmont-Redwood Shores Elementary School District Board of Trustees where she served two terms championing educational priorities and fostering community engagement. She then went on to serve as Vice President of the Mid-Peninsula Water District Board of Directors, and most recently, was elected to the Belmont City Council where she currently serves as a Council Member.
LAA Board President Peter Lee said, "Cathy’s combination of both private sector execution skills and history of community leadership excellence will be instrumental for guiding the LAA’s mission of increasing alumni engagement and supporting students. We are incredibly excited to have such a qualified Lowell alum as Cathy join us during this transitional time for the organization.
“I am thrilled about the opportunity to support LAA’s mission, and to reconnect with the Lowell community on a deeper level. Lowell was instrumental in shaping who I am today. Also, thanks to Lowell, I met my husband, Kevin, who remains active within Lowell’s sports community.
Cathy will be at Lowell three days a week, sitting across from Principal Bautista’s office. Please feel free to reach out to Cathy with questions & suggestions. Her email is cathy.jordan@lowellalumni.org.
